I can’t believe it’s already been one month since Dana and Aaron’s beautiful wedding at the Gem Theatre in Detroit! If I were to pick one word to describe their day, it would be joy. Pure joy. All day long Dana and Aaron were so calm and just happy. It didn’t matter that rain was in the forecast for the entire day. Dana said no matter what, it would still be the best day.

We started in Downtown Detroit near the Gem Theatre where the girls got ready. Aaron got Dana the most beautiful jewelry as her wedding gift. He thoughtfully picked out gorgeous Swarovski crystal earrings, a necklace, and bracelet. I loved all of the details from this day! Especially the stunning bright florals!

Their ceremony took place at the Grosse Pointe Academy inside the historic chapel. It was such an elegant location! After the ceremony, it was raining – but Dana and Aaron didn’t hesitate to grab an umbrella and head outside for some stunning portraits. No one hopes for rain on their wedding day. But these images are seriously some of my all time favorites! A little rain can’t stop us from creating amazing photos! The rain even let up when we headed back to Downtown Detroit and we were able to take all of the bridal party photos outside the Detroit Institute of Arts. The architecture was the perfect backdrop for photos! I love how the pink, peach, and maroon colors just pop!

Finally we headed to the Gem Theatre for the reception. The Gem is a historic venue in Detroit dating back to the 1920s. Everything inside is filled with dark wood, deep red theatre seats, and gold accents. Definitely one of the most unique wedding venues I’ve ever done! Dana and Aaron were all smiles up on stage during speeches and their first dance was so sweet. I especially love the overhead dancing shots from the balcony!
