In mid-April I had the honor of photographing a downtown Chicago engagement session for April and Thomas! Detroit and Chicago have been experiencing an incredibly rainy Spring, but we got lucky on the day of their engagement photos and it ended up being a beautifully sunny evening! We won’t mention the fact that the next morning the temperature dropped over twenty degrees and it decided to snow… Let’s just say Mother Nature was on our side that Saturday!

I loved getting to walk around Chicago with these two (and Jason!) as we captured photos in the city they have made their home. April and Thomas are both from Michigan originally and fellow Michigan State grads! Go Green! They have since relocated to Chicago and live in an awesome building right Downtown. It only made sense to do a fun downtown Chicago engagement session for these two! It was so fun seeing their favorite spots in the city and getting tips about the best restaurants to check out! I have always loved Chicago and it’s a beautiful city for photos. I was super fortunate to photograph a wedding in Chicago last year and I’ve gotten to do a few engagement sessions, too! I just love downtown Chicago engagement sessions! My very favorite photos from April and Thomas’ session were taken around Navy Pier with the entire Chicago skyline behind them. Wait until you see these!! I just love them all and I love how happy April and Thomas look in every photo! April is definitely one of the sweetest people I have ever met! It felt like we were hanging out with old friends the entire time! After the session, April even bought us cupcakes from her favorite cupcake place, Molly’s! And oh my word they were so amazing! I have the very best couples.

Congratulations April and Thomas! Thank you SO much for bringing me to Chicago to capture this special time in your lives! I absolutely can’t wait to hang out again on your wedding day next Spring!
