Katy and David were married on one of the rainiest and stormiest days of the entire Fall but no amount of rain could put a damper on their special day! Their lovely War Memorial wedding was the perfect way to end October! The Grosse Pointe War Memorial will forever be one of my very favorite venues.

We started the day at the Grosse Pointe Academy where Katy put her beautiful dress on and the girls relaxed before the ceremony. Katy shared a sweet first look with her dad and a first touch with David. Katy and David were so adorable holding hands around a door at the Academy just minutes before they were married! I love when couples choose to do a first look, but I also really love when they do a first touch. It’s a fun way of having a special moment together without actually seeing each other! David was beaming from ear to ear when he saw his bride walk down the aisle and their beautiful ceremony was the perfect start to the afternoon.

After their ceremony, we were able to take just a few photos on the back steps of the Grosse Pointe Academy before the skies opened up for good and the rain poured the rest of the day. I’m so glad we got to take those few minutes for photos before heading to their War Memorial wedding! Thankfully the Grosse Pointe War Memorial is one the BEST venues for a rainy day wedding – there are endless beautiful spots for photos there! We captured so many beautiful photos under the covered pathways and in the library!

I have so many favorite moments and favorite photos from Katy and David’s day, but hands down some of my absolute favorites are from Katy and David’s grand entrance. They had the biggest smiles on when they entered their reception and twirled their way into the room and across the dance floor! Their entrance was just perfect!

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Willoughby!! Thank you SO much for choosing me to photograph your wedding day! I can’t wait for you to see these photos!!
