Welcome to the Brp journal
Erika and Mike’s Grosse Pointe Academy wedding is extra near and dear to my heart because these two are amazing friends of mine. Erika and I have become incredibly close over the last couple of years and I honestly cried when she asked me to photograph her wedding day! She’s one of my very best friends and I don’t know what I would do without her in my life! I think we pretty much became instant photographer friends and we’ve never looked back. So not only was it an honor to photograph her wedding because she’s my BFF, but Erika is also an amazing wedding photographer so it meant that much more that she trusted me to capture this special day for them. Many of Erika and Mike’s friends have also become my friends over the years and it truly made their day that much more fun. We really were surrounded by friends all day. And I love that I got to take a photo with my past, current, and future Breanne Rochelle brides!
We started the day at Erika’s parents house where the girls got ready before heading to Grosse Pointe. Their Grosse Pointe Academy wedding was exactly Erika’s vision come to life and fit her so perfectly. She wanted a traditional church ceremony AND a beautiful tented outdoor reception. That was exactly what they accomplished. Everything was so elegant and full of classic neutrals. It was a photographer’s dream!
Erika and Mike have been together eight years and their wedding day was a long time in the making. Not even the rain could dampen their day! There was so much love and laughter surrounding them all day long as their closest friends and family celebrated alongside them. Erika and Mike are so loved by so many and it’s so evident. There were so many special moments that it’s impossible to touch on all of them. But one of my favorite moments was when Erika’s maid of honor Alaina gave her toast and explained the meaning behind the lovely bee pins she gave to Mike and Erika. Alaina said that no one actually knew, but these two always call each other bee. The bee pins represented their beautiful love and friendship. It was seriously the sweetest. Erika and Mike were beaming ear to ear during the entire reception and their first dance had many of us in tears. From the surprise saxophone player to the surprise fireworks, it was absolutely a wedding for the books.
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Dettloff!! It was truly an honor to photograph your wedding day and I hope you treasure these photos for years to come! I love you both so much!!
